Overview

Attendees interact with multiple digital products throughout their event journey, each serving a different purpose but contributing to a single experience. As part of Esri's Events platform, I worked on navigation improvements across RainFocus and the Eventbase mobile app, identifying opportunities to reduce complexity and make important content easier to find.

The Event Ecosystem Matrix

Platform Focus Comparison

  • RainFocus Web: Registration & attendee portal — Focused on global nav simplification & profile dropdown consolidation
  • Eventbase Mobile: Onsite companion app — Focused on menu tile hierarchy & rapid scanning on the move

Shared Navigation Challenges

Across both platforms, similar usability issues emerged: content was buried behind deep submenus, options overwhelmed first-time attendees, and common account tasks required unnecessary clicks.

Navigation Solutions & Results

By aligning navigation mental models, consolidating profile actions, and simplifying primary top-level items across RainFocus and Eventbase, we established a cohesive attendee journey from pre-conference planning to live onsite navigation.

Cross-Platform Reflection

Although RainFocus and the Eventbase mobile app are distinct software products built by different vendors, attendees experience them as part of one continuous journey. By simplifying navigation patterns across both platforms, the work contributed to a seamless experience from registration through onsite participation.
